I’m so sorry that I haven’t posted any review for so long, but I’m a bit stressed at the moment. As compensation, I have now got something new to review! I went to the cinema yesterday because my friends persuaded me…
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
Storyline: After winning the 74th Hunger Games together with Peeta, Katniss and he become targets of the Capitol. President Snow wants to “eliminate” her (why can’t he just use the word “kill”?) because they started a rebellion against the Capitol by accident. So, for the 75th Hunger Games, there’s something special planned.
Actors: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth
My review: TEAM PEETA! God, my friends all (most of them) prefer Gale, but he’s so… not cool! Please, comment if you’re Team Peeta or Team Gale. If you can’t decide or you don’t like either of them, go for Team Fennick ! The film was quite cool, but I didn’t read the book, so I can’t tell if it stuck to the plot. Parts of it were a bit gross and sometimes I just thought: “How can she/he be so stupid?!”. I didn’t see all of the first Hunger-Games-Film, but the ratings on IMDb say the second part was way better (about one star difference). Katniss’ dresses were soo cool! The film could have been a bit funnier, but there probably aren’t many chances to make it funny. Quite a few people died (duh) and (SURPRISE!) I cried. What annoyed me a little bit, was that the arena seemed more dangerous than the people who are trying to kill you! Oh, and I HATED the ending 😡 . Another little thing: Jennifer Lawrence’ upper lip looks really weird on the film poster
Something I love about this film: Effie and her outfits (and eyelashes)
In All: 7.5/10
The Karate Kid (2010)
Storyline: When Dre moves from Detroit to China, he gets beaten up by his schoolmates. The maintenance man Mr. Han decides to teach Dre kung fu to let him compete in the Open Kung Fu Tournament.
Actors: Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan, Wenwen Han
My review: I think it’s really stupid that they called the film The Karate Kid even though it’s about kung fu! But I guess The Kung Fu Kid doesn’t really sound like a blockbuster… Sorry, I had to say that. Now, back to my review: Meiying (is that spelt right?!) has got a rather weird hairstyle. It’s short all around, except for two long strands of hair on each side. I think that looks so weird! I like Dre’s hair though. I haven’t seen the original film from 19something yet, but it’s supposed way better. The film was fine, I cried (of course. God, I must seem like a real wimp, but I like crying while watching films!), but it’s not my favourite film.
Something I love about this film: Dre when he thinks he’s cool. Hahaaa so funny ;).
In All: 7/10
Post your review on the film 🙂
Mean Girls (2004)
Storyline: Freshman Cady (weird name?!), on advice of her new friend Janice, acts as if she belongs to the Plastics, so Cady can tell Janice all about them. While acting as one of them, she more and more becomes a Plastic.
Actors: Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried
My review: Wow! I had no idea Lindsay Lohan used to be so pretty! (That’s over…) She actually isn’t even a bad actress! To the film: I liked it. What surprised me was, that in elderlish films (before 2007 or so) the “bimbos” usually don’t look very modern and just TOTALLY embarassing (for example, Legally Blonde. Good film, but Oh. My. God. You can’t wear that kind of… stuff! Pink, feathery somethings.), but here it wasn’t too bad. I usually notice it most by the shoes they wear (pumps, sneakers, whatever, partially there absolutely grusome). Oh, right, I should be reviewing the film, not the clothes. It was very funny, and for a change, she wasn’t being bullied by the “cool” people, she was one of them herself!
Something I love about this film: The school buses.

“Three films a day, three books a week and records of great music would be enough to make me happy to the day I die.”
Haha that’s my dream… 🙂 In case you want to know, I get all these quotes from http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/film.
Pirates of the Caribbean (2003)
Storyline: When blacksmith Will Turner makes a deal with pirate Jack Sparrow to get back the governor’s daughter Elizabeth Swann, he doesn’t know Sparrow’s intentions to get back his lost ship, the “Black Pearl”, whose crew is now undead and under the lead of Captain Barbossa.
Actors: Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom
My review: I guess this is one of THE must-see films from the 21st century. I think I’ve seen it too often, but I’ll just review as if I just saw it for the first time. I love Keira Knightley, she’s so beautiful! The dresses she wears are wonderful, why can I not have them?! I don’t like the start too much, but the film gets better and better all the time. The film is a bit long, but I can live with that ;). You don’t notice that it’s so “old”, which I think is really cool. Orlando Bloom really looks like in The three Musketeers at some point! (Okay, that information was completely useless…) Oh, back to the film: It’s cool, funny and you better see it (if you haven’t, but you probably have).
Something I love about this film: Jack, sorry, CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow. Savvy?

The Incredibles (2004)
Storyline: After superheroes are forced to become “normal” people, some of them just can’t stop being super. People like Mr. Incredible, also known as Robert “Bob” Parr. When he recieves a mysterios request to fight a robot on an island, he simply can’t resist. But then he notices that there’s something weird about this whole mission.
Actors (their voices): Craig T. Nelson, Samuel L. Jackson, Holly Hunter
My review: Good film. I mean, it’s not like it’s THE ultimate film to watch, but maybe I’m just that little bit to old for it. There’s quite a bit of action, and the idea behind it all is pretty cool. I like the way some of the smaller things are funny. The story is a bit predictable as soon as you’ve got to the main part, but at the end there’s still one or two little surprises. The characters are lovable and funny (Well, most of them). I barely knew any of the voice actors, and maybe most people don’t mind that in animation films, but I like knowing: “Ooooohhh, that’s Whoever!”. Anyway, there isn’t really much more to say about this film from my side, but maybe I’ve just seen it too often…
Something I love about this film: Edna. Or Frozone.

Storyline: Just when Reggie Lampert decides to get divorced, her husband gets killed. She finds out that she actually knew nothing about him, including that he had stolen 250,000 $. Now that three men are trying to kill her, she has to rely on the help of Peter Joshua.
Actors: Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, Walter Matthau
My review: I LOVE this film. It’s the one I mentioned in my “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” review ;). It’s funny, its romantic, there’s some action and its even a little scary (not often, but I did get a bit tense while watching it). But then, on the other side, Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn are sooo cool! They’re probably my favourite dead actors. I liked “Charade” so much because it’s a perfect blend of just about everything a film needs to be for me. Cary Grant changes his name about once to often, but there are unexpected twists to the story. I liked it more than “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, maybe because I wasn’t a great fan of George Peppard. definitely one of the best films I’ve seen.
Something I love about this film: I actually don’t know. Probably Audrey Hepburn (again) and Cary Grant (what a surprise).
In All: 9/10

“It’s not what a movie is about, it’s how it is about it.”
Well, now, that’s a very philosophical statement about film. But true. Interesting.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
Storyline: When writer Paul Varjak moves into an appartement near light-hearted Holly Golightly, they get to become very good friends. When they start to be more than just friends, Paul finds out that Holly had “forgotten” to tell him something more or less important.
Actors: Audrey Heoburn, George Peppard, Patricia Neal
My review: Oooohhh, Audrey Hepburn!!! I love her! Especially in another film (I hope to review it next time I watch it 🙂 ). I didn’t like the male lead in this film very much, maybe because some of the stuff he says is not very… intelligent in my eyes. The film was cool, funny and I mean, it’s just such a classic! I don’t think it will ever be one of my Top 5 Favourite Films, but there are very strong competitors (Notting Hill for example). It’s light (like most films I’ve seen. You might have noticed I don’t watch many psychothrillers 😉 ) and romantic. I talked to soemone about it and she said that she didn’t think it so funny, because Holly is actually kind of depressed and lonely, but that doesn’t make the film sad or so for me. I like it. Just watch, you won’t be disappointed.
Something I love about this film: Audrey Hepburn. Her clothes, her looks, she’s just so cool!

1001 MOVIES YOU MUST SEE BEFORE YOU DIE
Notting Hill (1999)
Storyline: When one of a bookshop owner’s (William Thacker) few customers turns out to be the most famous film star in the worls, Anna Scott, he doesn’t know that pouring orange juice by accident all over Ms. Scott’s shirt, is going to change his whole life. Things seem to be good, when they fall in love, but there’s something she forgot to tell him.
Actors: Julia Roberts, Hugh Grant, Rhys Ifans
My review: Great film. The music is really good and I’ve watched the film quite often and still like it. Julia Robert’s smile is so beautiful! She looks really good with blonde hair (you can see her with blonde hair when Spike and William are watching a film). Spike is sooo funny 😀 . The film is nice and easy-going. There’s not much action, but this is one of the films that really don’t need it anyway. The acting is great, but what much can you do wrong with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant?! Then I saw Misha Barton (she was only there for about 2 minutes) and thought like:” I know her from somewhere!” She’s TWELVE in that film! Well, there’s nothing much else to say, this is exactly my kind of film. A definite “Watch it” from me.
Something I love about this film: Spike

This is my opinion on the film, it doesn’t mean it’s this to everyone. If you want to you can post your own amount of stars in the comments
