Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2Β  (2011)

This post may contain several severe spoilers so do not read if you haven’t read the book/ haven’t seen the film/ don’t want to do either of those, I recommend not to go on reading πŸ˜‰ .

Storyline: Harry, Ron and Hermione come back to Hogwarts to find the last Horcruxes and stand up against Voldemort in the final battle. One has to die, Harry Potter or Voldemort.

My review: “Mirror, mirror, on the wall (in Aberforth Dumbledore’s house), which is the awesomest of them all (the HP films)?” “Oh wonderful Grace, what a question, without a doubt Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2!” Haha, sorry but I had to say/write that πŸ˜‰ . I love it. It’s full of wonderful quotes and it makes me cry so much that only “the notebook” has beaten it until now, I think.

It’s so good to see all the guys we know from Hogwarts again (although most/lots of them die). A bit too many people died, but I guess J K wanted to show us that not only baddies die in wars.

AT LAST Ron and Hermione kiss, I mean HELLO?! we had to wait 6 (and a half) books and 7 (and a half) films for it to finally happen! What really annoys me, is the “19 years later” part. I think it kills all your imagination of what could have happened to the characters… I must admit, although I really love the films, I am kind of happy that I can now review other films again πŸ˜€

What’s your favourite Harry Potter film/book?

Something I love about this film: NEVILLE!!! I think he’s the true hero πŸ™‚ But Snape’s story in the Pensive is very beautiful, too, it always makes me cry buckets of tears (After all this time? Always.). And McGonagall was pretty cool. And Molly Weasley. And…Β  I guess you get the point?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1Β  (2010)

This post may contain several severe spoilers so do not read if you haven’t read the book/ haven’t seen the film/ don’t want to do either of those, I recommend not to go on reading πŸ˜‰ .

Storyline: After Dumbledore’s death, Harry, Ron and Hermione go off to find the other missing Horcruxes to finally kill Voldemort. But finding Horcruxes proves itself to be a rather difficult mission.

Actors: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint

My review: Bathilda Bagshot may the scariest thing I’ve ever seen (well, I don’t watch horror films so me saying that doesn’t really mean much), she totally freaks me out every time I see the film and I have to force myself to not look away from the screen.

Anyway, I’m not a great fan of this one, as I think it’s rather boring at the start. I think they could have shortened it down quite a bit. Part two is just so much better!

Now to the most important question: Why did Dobby have to die?! I mean, that was one of the meanest things J K Rowling could do! It kind of annoyed me the way Ron was in this film, he usually was the only guy who made jokes (other than Fred and George of course) and now he’s got nothing better to do than be aggressive and boring.

I must say, it’s my least favourite of the eight. And of course they had to make the end a total cliffhanger which makes me want to see part 2 right afterwards, but then I think: No. I better save its awesomness for tomorrow πŸ˜€

Something I love about this film: I really like the tale of the three brothers. I have actually got the “Tales of Beedle the Bard” book myself and I like reading it although the stories are kind of weird (and some of them pretty creepy). And Fred and George were pretty awesome.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceΒ  (2009)

This post may contain several severe spoilers so do not read if you haven’t read the book/ haven’t seen the film/ don’t want to do either of those, I recommend not to go on reading πŸ˜‰ .

Storyline: A new professor has come to Hogwarts, Horace Slughorn. He had taught potions to many students, including Harry’s mother and Tom Riddle. To whom, Harry finds out, he told something he probably should have kept to himself.

Actors: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint

My review: Oh man, I always have to cry with Draco because I think it’s so sad…

And why on earth is it called the Half-Blood Prince?! Maybe it makes more sense in the book, but in the film it seems like the whole thing with the potions and the half-blood prince is more a kind of side feature.

I know I’m totally spoiling the whole film right now, but I didn’t like the part where Dumbledore and Harry went to look for the Horcruxes because it was quite far to the end where you didn’t really expect a lot more to happen.

All of a sudden Cho disappears into thin air and isn’t even seen in the background every now and then and Harry notices that he actually fancies Ginny, like, way more. This one is funnier than the fifth and -of course- there’s also more love, but I actually did prefer the fifth because I think the plot is better. Oh, and Neville also didn’t turn up at all… That’s it, I haven’t really got more to say.

Something I love about this film: The way the word “poof” (as in “vanished”) can be so… emotional. That scene makes me smile and cry at the same time.

Harry Potter and the Order of the PhoenixΒ  (2007)

This post may contain several severe spoilers so do not read if you haven’t read the book/ haven’t seen the film/ don’t want to do either of those, I recommend not to go on reading πŸ˜‰ .

Storyline: Harry gets into trouble with the ministry because of using the Patronus charm in front of a muggle (Dudley), but he gets freed of all charges or something. The Ministry of Magic isn’t very fond of Harry anyway because they don’t want people to think that the Dark Lord has returned.

Actors: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint

My review: Phew, I must admit that after watching five, it does get a bit tiring that the only films you see are Harry Potter… But I want to review all of them in a row, so I better go on. Well, there are only three left anyway, so I’m almost done.

Sorry, but I just wont be able to do this without spoilers anymore… First of all, it may sound really weird, but I didn’t cry when Sirius died. Of course I wasn’t happy about it, but no tears. I’ve seen the film quite a few times and if you’ve read three other of my reviews, you will probably see I cry when watching most films, but I never do with this film. No idea why.

I hate Umbridge. I just hate her. I know I’m supposed to hate her and blablabla, but her way of doing ANYTHING makes me aggressive. Speaking of “anything”, I think Harry says the word itself really weirdly haha πŸ˜‰ . Oh, and I’m really sorry for Ginny that she has to see Harry getting close to Cho. It’s just kind of awkward in a way…

I actually like this one a lot a) because it’s not that long and b) because of all the awesome things that happen in it.

Something I love about this film: Luna Lovegood… I think this weirdness is really cute about her. I’ve read lots of threads which say Evanna Lynch isn’t very good but I think she did a great job. I also love the scenes in the Room of Requirement when Dumbledore’s Army is training.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

hp4

Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireΒ  (2005)

Storyline: Harry is totally surprised when he gets to be one of the usually three, for this special occasion four, Triwizard contestants, as he didn’t put his name in the Goblet of Fire. Sirius assures him that whoever put his name into the Goblet, doesn’t want to do Harry any good.

Actors: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint

My review: So, I’m going to try to spoiler this as little as possible… Well, there is this very very sad scene in the movie, it get’s me every time and makes me cry so much. Oh, sod it. Diggory dies D: *sob* The worst part isn’t him dying, but when they get back and then everyone thinks YAAAY and then they notice Cedric’s dead especially his father 😦 But there is something that really annoys me about it. They end the scene really abruptly so I have to go on crying into the next scene while everyone in the film seems to be more or less okay again.

What also annoyed me a little was that they still tried forcing in the “Isn’t magic wonderful and beautiful and now we all go and eat Pumpkin Pasties and Cauldron Cakes”.

Sorry, this really is going to be a spoiler, but I so have to say it. At last Voldi turns up and does something himself and doesn’t just send people to do it. The process of “resurrecting” him pretty gross, though.

What kind of surprised me was that for the roles of Fleur Delacour and madame Maxime were actually played by french actresses and Viktor Krum was played by a Bulgarian actor (well, Krum says a total of about 20 words in the whole film so they probably could have also taken a german guy πŸ˜‰ ). I thought they’d just take some english actors and make them look like they’re French/Bulgarian.

Last thing: I didn’t particularly like Hermione’s Yuleball dress because I thought the cleavage looked kind of weird. But other than that, she looked very pretty.

The film was good, the first of Harry Potter to make me cry (but they make up for it in HP 7/2), and definitely way better than the third part.

Something I love about this film: The band playing at the Yuleball is pretty cool (Can you dance like a hippogriff mamama mamama mamama)…. Oh, and Neville dancing is really cute!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of AzkabanΒ  (2004)

Storyline: In Harry’s third year at Hogwarts there is, once again, a new DAtDA Teacher, Remus Lupin. Meanwhile, Sirius Black, who betrayed Harry’s parents 12 years before, has broken out of Azkaban and wants to kill Harry (for a change not only Voldemort wants to kill him).

Actors: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint

My review: To start off, Malfoy has got a serious problem with his haircut. I mean, he’s good-looking-enough, but in year 1 and 2 it’s always combed back with tons on hair lacquer or whatever that is and then in year 3 he suddenly returns with this kind of weird something- haircut. I’ll put a pic of his haircut as time passes to the bottom of the post.

So, next up: There is this one short scene where you can see the dementor’s “mouth” and it’ so gross! Whoa.

My favourite scene in the whole film is when Hermione punches Malfoy in the face. I’s just sooo awesome! And then there’s this one scene, where, every time I watch it, I get the feeling my heart just popped out of my chest, I get such a fright. It’s when Harry is looking at the crystal ball in Trelawny’s classroom and the Trelawny suddenly comes from behind and talks in this weird voice oh my god it’s so freaky!

What annoyed me a bit about the film is that Voldemort didn’t turn up in any shape or form, but okay. I thought that Peter Pettigrew looked really really gross, very much like rat. The visual effects in this film were pretty good, they even got an Oscar-nominaion for it. Overall, it was cool, but far from being my favourite.

Oh, and this was the first time for the new Dumbledore. I must admit, I almost prefer him, I think he’s got a stronger voice than the first.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

hp2

Harry Potter and the Chamber of SecretsΒ  (2002)

Storyline: So, this time round, young Harry Potter can hear freaky voices all around the school and poor little half-bloods get petrified (strangely enough, none of them get killed. I guess J K Rowling wanted to save that up for later). And there is a new teacher Mr. Lockhart, who all girls seem to love and all the guys seem to hate.

Actors: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint

My review: Round two. I think this film is the one I’ve seen most often (which is quite a few times).

It’s so cute seeing Hinny (Harry and Ginny) for the first time :D!

What annoyed me about this one, was that Hermione didn’t turn up as much because she was petrified for about a third of the film. Who also didn’t turn up enough were Fred and George, they should have at least been in the common room more often.

In this film there already was less light than in the first, it’s like a steady curve from “lots of light” towards “no light” from film one to eight.

I totally agree with Ron’s famous sentence:”Why spiders? Why couldn’t it be “follow the butterflies”?. Spiders totally give me the creeps, unless they’re about the size of a baby’s fingernail. I would probably die if I had to FOLLOW spiders just to meet even BIGGER spiders!

Oh, and then there’s Dobby. Dobby is really really cute, but he can be a bit annoying at times. (SPOILER) I thought that the “grande finale” was pretty cool with the basilisk and all, but I was a bit shocked that Lucius Malfoy actually tried to “Avada Kedavra” Harry just because he had lost him his house elf…

Something I love about this film: Gilderoy Lockhart having lost his memory (“It’s an odd sort of place, this, isn’t it? Do you live here?”).

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

hp1

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s StoneΒ  (2001)

Storyline: When young Harry Potter finds out, that he is a famous wizard, his world gets turned upside down. At Hogwarts, the world’s finest school of witchcraft and wizardry he proves himself of being a great young wizard, which he has to be when fighting against trolls, etc.

Actors: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint

My review: I love watching this film a few weeks after watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 because then they are all soo cute! Especially Hermione. I think that Emma Watson plays Hermione perfectly (it’s LeviOsa not LevioSAR) and she’s also got very good facial expressions.

When Molly Weasly walks around on King’s Cross screaming:”Muggles everywhere” and shoving kids through walls, I as a muggle would have probably called the police and let them send her to a mental institution. And if I was a wizard, I would probably be so scared when running through to plattform 9 3/4, I’d close my eyes and run into someone else (or a wall) on the other side ;). But then on the Hogwarts Express I would probably buy and taste everyone of those Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Bean’s.

What always kind of amazes me, is that the stundents can walk around Hogwarts with the staircases moving around all the time and get lost and die of hunger! Or that they just walk around it by night, the place is so freaking scary, I would even be scared walking around it in broad daylight! Oh, and if a guy like Hagrid broke into my little hut on an island looking like some crazy freak or so, I wouldn’t just say:” Cool stuff, I’m a wizard!” and go with him!

So, the film was cool even after watching it for the 10-millionth-time and I’ll probably still enjoy watching it the next 5 000 000 times ;). Whoa, this review is a bit longer than the others, haha.

Something I love about this film: Hagrid’s cake for Harry- HAPEE BIRTHDAE HARRY xD

Some Like It HotΒ  (1959)

Storyline: When the two musicians Joe (sax) and Jerry (bass fiddle) witness a mass-murder, they have to flee, so they decide to go to Florida with an all-girls-band. To do that, they have to turn into Josephine and Daphne. But it isn’t always easy for two guys on an all-girls-trip.

Actors: Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis

My review: I had heard about this film quite a few a few times and also that it was very good (8.4 on IMDb), but last night I finally decided to watch it. And I was not disappointed.

Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis delivered very “convincing” pictures of women ;). Jack did his female-voice himself, but Tony had his dubbed.

I read that Marilyn Monroe took 47 takes to get “It’s me, Sugar” right and 59 to say “Where’s the bourbon?”. Well, as she says in the film, she isn’t very bright, I guess.

Whoops, I’m beating around the bush here a little… I have barely any complaints and I didn’t even notice that it was two hours long. To sum it up: The film is full of hilarious quotes, funny characters and the story is brilliant which makes it very enjoyable and funny, one of the must-watches of the last century.

Something I love about this film: Shell Oil, hahaha xD and soo many other things, I can’t even list all of them

Despicable Me 2Β  (2013)

Storyline: Gru now has to face the problems being a father. Margo gets interested in boys and when fairy pricesses give it a miss at birthday parties, you have to be creative. But his life changes when he gets kidnapped by an agent from the Anti-Villian-League. The AVI want Gru to help them find a new super-criminal.

Actors: Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Russel Brand

My review: When I first heard that there was going to be a second Despicable-Me-Film I wasn’t quite sure what to think. I thought that it would be cool to see all the characters again but sequels usually aren’t as good as the first. I was actually positively surprised, at least I watched in the cinema twice. It was very funny again, but the story and the idea weren’t that new anymore and even I as an absolute minion-lover think they overdid it a bit on that front (although the last scene was just awesomilarious πŸ˜‰ )… After the Minion-Film I probably won’t be able to look at the any more without wanting to… do not nice stuff.Β What I would have liked to see was what happened to Vector and the poor minion that also landed on the moon. The new characters were fun enough (I like it when Lucy does her kruuumpiiing) but there was no Vector *cry*. So, the film was quite good, but it didn’t quite get the awesomeness of the first part. Which one did you prefer?
