Shaun-of-the-dead

Shaun of the Dead  (2004)

Storyline: Uhm, well… There are zombies who eat people and Shaun tries to save himself, his flatmate, his ex-girlfriend, her two flatmates and his mother with a great plan.

Actors: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield

My review: Two things: First of all, Simon Pegg looks SO much younger! Well, he is, but it was almost a shock for me after watching The World’s End and Paul… Yes, I had to make this completely useless remark. Anyway, secondly: The second I saw David (Dylan Moran) I knew I’d seen him some film and I found out he was the guy stealing a book in Notting Hill 😀 . I was happy Nick Frost and Simon Pegg did better here than in The World’s End and it’s such a classic anyway (I want to watch Hot Fuzz in nearer future to finish them off…). Some might not see the film’s ending as a bad one (as in not happy), but I think it’s almost depressing! Practically everyone dies and what Sean does with Ed is just plain cruel. But I read that Dianne actually survives after having to eat Dave’s legs (no. comment.) and stays in contact with Liz and Shaun over christmas cards (I mean, what can the internet NOT tell you?!) I got the feeling there was slightly more physical comedy, which I love (as long as it doesn’t go over the top too much). And I would have expected it (apart from a few gross scenes) to be scarier. Is it only me not being very attentive or do they really not explain how the zombies came to be? Anyway, I really liked it 🙂

Something I love about this film: That so many things that happen early in the film suddenly turn up later, like the hog lumps or the instructions on how to shoot.

My rating: 8.5/10
